Engr. George Chukwulewa Okoroma seats at the helm of affairs at Gambeta Groupe Limited, a group of companies with major professional interest in Engineering & Technical Consulting Services, Oil and Gas (EPIC) Projects, Transport/Logistics, Information Technology, Hospitality, Contract Staff Management, Manpower Development, and Real Estate.
He has distinguished himself as a professional, a philanthropist and a leader who believes that integrity, honesty and professionalism remains the core value for professional practice. His mission for the industry is to bridge the gap between local companies, best practices and excellence, in Engineering and other Technical Services, for a sustainable development.
George graduated as a Civil Engineer in 1981 from the Paul Sabatier University, Toulouse, France. He also holds a Master’s of Science Degree in Project Management from the University of Roehampton, United Kingdom.
He started his working career with various construction companies as a Project Engineer and rose to the position of a Project Manager. In 1985, he co-founded his first engineering venture – a construction company Gambeta Nigeria Limited and later, established amongst other Companies a Consulting Firm: Gapec Consultants Limited and he is the Principal Partner.
George is a prominent and active member and fellow of various professional associations in Nigeria and abroad which includes, Fellow Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (FAEng), Fellow Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (FNICE), Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Structural Engineers (FNIStructE), Fellow Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (FNIHTE), Fellow Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC), Fellow African Institute of Public Speaking and Communication Excellence (FAIPC), Member Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) (MNIM), Member Institute of Safety Professionals, Member American Society of Civil Engineers (M.ASCE), Member Institution of Diagnostic Engineers UK (MIDiagE).
Engr. George is the President of FIDIC Africa, a position he assumed in May 2026 after serving as Vice President (2024–2026) and Honorary Treasurer/Executive Committee Member (2020–2024). He is also the 18th President of the Association for Consulting Engineering in Nigeria (ACEN). He was the Pioneer Chairman of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Omoku Branch, Nigeria, and is recognised as the Chief Founding Patron of the School Children Vision Detection and Referral Initiative (SCVDRI).
In terms of awards and recognitions, he has received several awards which include; Distinguished Service Award Nigerian Society of Engineers 2007, Justice of The Peace by the Nigerian Government 2010, Distinguished Service Award by ACEN 2013, Presidential Merit Award for Exemplary commitment to the Engineering Profession and support to the Ideals of the Nigerian Society of Engineers 2015, Inducted into the 2015 Construction Industry Hall of Fame by CED Magazine, Recipient of the Distinguished Service Award by The Nigerian Institution of Highways 2016, Leads Africa Merit Award of Excellence 2018, Lifetime Achievement Award 2019, FIDIC Africa award in recognition of valuable service as EXCO Member 2022–2024, and Plaque of Appreciation by FIDIC Africa for distinguished service and exemplary leadership 2026, etc.
Engr. George C. Okoroma is happily married and blessed with children and some of them are professionals in their own rights in various disciplines.

Engr. George is the President of FIDIC Africa, a position he assumed in May 2026 after serving as Vice President (2024–2026) and Honorary Treasurer/Executive Committee Member (2020–2024).
FIDIC described the appointment as a landmark moment, making him the first Nigerian to assume the FIDIC Africa presidency in recent history.
His continental priorities include stronger local engineering participation, deeper engagement with African development institutions, development of future engineering leaders, stronger integrity frameworks and improved conditions for financing African infrastructure.
